    Need data on our network?

Access important data, intelligence and insights about our network.

Powering data

We understand the importance of data to our stakeholders and we're committed to providing the information our customers and stakeholders need to make more informed decisions in a format that's accessible and easy to understand.

Our Open Data Portal provides a wealth of additional datasets and intelligence on our distribution networks and should be the first port of call for anyone looking to understand the data we make available and how to access it.

Open Data Portal

Our Open Data Portal provides a wealth of important data and information about our electricity distribution network.

The portal offers a host of interactive features for users to help them access and utilise our data most effectively.

Visit our Open Data Portal and share your feedback so that we can make further improvements and add to the datasets available.

DFES

Decarbonisation, digitisation and evolving consumer needs are driving significant changes in the way energy is generated and used. Our Distribution Future Energy Scenarios (DFES) are helping us to plan for the future energy needs of our customers and the communities we serve. We've also developed a visualisation tool that models different low carbon scenarios to understand the impact on our network, both now and in the future.

Network Development Plan

Our Network Development Plan underlines our commitment to share timely and useful data with stakeholders and network users. It sets out our plans for interventions, our flexibility services requirements and forecast demand and generation headroom across our network in the medium to long-term.

We're continually looking at how to improve the data we make available and would welcome your feedback on our Network Development Plan, how you will use the information it contains and if it meets your requirements.

AutoDesign

AutoDesign can help you to find the most viable and cost-effective locations to connect to our low voltage network and can be used to generate free of charge budget estimates for your connection project in just minutes.

Embedded Capacity Register

Our Embedded Capacity Register (ECR) provides intelligence on the distributed generation and network services that are connected, or are accepted to connect to our network. Presented in an industry agreed format, the register contains information on generation sites with a capacity of 50kW or greater. This information is updated monthly.

Please note, whilst we have used our reasonable endeavours to ensure that the data contained within the register is accurate, we do not accept any responsibility or liability for the accuracy or the completeness of the content or any loss which may arise from reliance on the register and any related information.

LTDS

Our Long-Term Development Statement (LTDS) contains information that can be used to assess the feasibility of new connections to our network. It can help customers to assess opportunities available for development projects that need new or additional connections.

Heat Maps

Our network availability heat maps can help you make more informed decisions about where to connect. Our generation heat map shows where there is capacity to connect large-scale generation to our network. Our demand heat map shows where there is capacity for large-scale demand projects. The web view uses a simple green, amber, red traffic light indicator to show where there is capacity to connect. The web view is accompanied by downloadable datasheets which are updated each month and provide a wealth of additional network data, including Appendix G information.

Whole Electricity System Co-ordination Register

Our Whole Electricity System Co-ordination Register is produced in accordance with our new licence condition (Whole Electricity System Licence D17/7A) and details the activities undertaken through ongoing co-ordination and co-operation with other electricity licensees and system users to advance the efficient and economical operation of our network.

GSP Operational Metering Data

We publish data as part of our involvement in the Energy Networks Association Open Networks initiative.

Our data files contain time series data taken from Northern Powergrid's historian system relating to analogue sensors located at Grid Supply Point (GSP) substations within our electricity network. This information enables interested parties to gain a greater insight into the capacity available on our network.
