Making you our priority

At Northern Powergrid we understand that all our customers are individuals with unique needs. We understand that power cuts can cause a worry, particularly if you, or someone you care for, needs the power on for medical reasons, are elderly, sick or disabled or have trouble communicating. You may have young children to look after at home. Whatever the reason, we have developed tailored services and guidance to ensure you get the support you need. As a Priority Services Customer, our Priority Services Membership team will make sure you receive extra help and peace of mind if there is a power cut.

We'll contact you to let you know the time your power is likely to be back on and of any help we may be able to provide. We do this regardless of the time of day or night by text message, if we have a mobile phone number for you, or by calling you, if we only have a landline number for you.

If you'd like to receive text messages from us, so that we don't need to call you during the night, please let us know your mobile phone number either by calling our dedicated Priority Services Membership team on 0800 169 2996 or by emailing us.

British Sign Language translations are available here.  You can also talk to us using British Sign Language through our InterpretersLive! service.

We work with a number of partners so they can help us promote our Priority Services Membership and offer advice on keeping warm, staying safe and keeping your bills down.

Being a Priority Services Member does not mean your electricity supply will be restored first or protected, it means that we will know what extra advice and support you may need, before, during or after a power cut so we can seek to provide additional assistance, wherever possible, while our teams work to restore your power. It also helps Northern Powergrid inform any wider regional responses led by local resilience partners - such as local authorities and emergency services - so their support is targeted to those who need it most.
