If your home or business does not already have an earth from our network, you can apply for us to provide one for you, though we may need to check that an earth is available in your location.
You can use our online service to request an earth for a single domestic or small commercial property and it’s free of charge.
When the earth has been provided, your electrician will need to ensure the property earthing meets the relevant BS 7671 requirements before using it.
If you need an earth for more than one domestic or small commercial property or for a large commercial/industrial property, charges may apply. Please call us on 0800 0113332 if you’re not sure.

Making changes to the layout of your property? Need to move your electricity supply? Moving your electricity service is referred to as a Service Alteration. This is usually required when the layout of a property changes.

If you are planning work near power lines, we will place a temporary protective covering called shrouding over them to make sure you are able to work safely. Our service for single properties is free of charge (depending on the total length of shrouding needed). We also offer a fast-track service for which we charge to complete the work within 2 working days.

Do you need to arrange to disconnect electric supplies at your home or business? There will be instances when your property no longer requires an electricity supply, such as if plans are being put in place to demolish the site, if major refurbishment is scheduled or when you’re having services removed.

If you represent a local authority or highways agency department, a private developer, or landowner and their agents, and you would like us to move, remove or disconnect one of our existing services, distribution network cables, overhead lines or substation buildings, we can help.
