    Force for Good

    Force for Good

We recognise the role we have in the communities we serve and the importance of going above and beyond our network to be a force for good.

A force for good in our communities

Being a force for good goes beyond our network which powers peoples' every day lives. It includes everything from making a positive contribution to the communities we work and live in, to creating a cleaner, greener energy system that everyone can benefit from.

We want to be a cornerstone of an energy system that enables an exciting transformation; combating climate change and building a more sustainable future for our customers and communities now and for generations to come.

Supporting our customers
We have a range of partnerships in place to support our customers and the communities we serve - including sponsoring 40 warm hubs in Northumberland.

If you need energy advice or have money worries and want to reduce your energy costs from your chosen supplier you can find out more or access free support through our partners.

We also support vulnerable customers in our communities with our free Priority Services Membership - providing extra advice and information during a power cut.

Strong partnerships

We see partnerships as the key to helping us deliver our commitment to being a force for good in the communities we serve. By working with local partners, who have established and local links, we can ensure that the support we provide gets to the people and communities that need it most.

We're always interested to hear from community groups and charities. Email us at [email protected].

Help with money worries

We all need help from time to time, especially with things as challenging as they are right now. If you're struggling to pay your energy bills, finding it hard to manage fuel debt, or worry about keeping warm, there is help available. MoneyHelper is a great online resource with impartial money and debt advice. If you would like to speak to someone, either over the phone, or face-to-face, we are partnered with support services in your area who offer free, independent and confidential advice.

Download the 'Financial support and extra help' leaflet below to find out what support is available where you are.

Warm Hub Spaces - Northumberland

We work with Community Action Northumberland to sponsor 40 warm hub spaces across Northumberland. Our funding helps community buildings to open throughout winter and provide hot meals, refreshments and energy advice to local communities - supporting 25,000 people each year.

Find the warm hubs.

Lower the carbon footprint of your home

Could you benefit from a better understanding of the energy efficiency of your home and how you could make it more efficient, perhaps with new heating or energy generating systems? We fund advisors who can help you with this, as well as with how to access grants and funding to help with installation costs, which can lead to long-term savings on carbon emissions and help to reduce your bills.

Download the leaflets below to find out more.

Education

We fund programmes for primary and secondary school children to improve their STEM skills and help them understand net-zero and the benefits of going green. Also, teachers, parents, carers and students can access our bespoke range of free resources.

We also support a New Power Generation scheme to help engage more young people in the journey to net zero and our safety presenters visit local schools to talk with children aged between 8 and 11 years old about the importance of staying safe, playing safe and keeping away from their local electricity network. To book a talk at your school, email [email protected].

Volunteering

Every year colleagues from across our business spend time volunteering in the communities we serve. This can include everything from supporting local community projects and planting trees, to delivering careers talks in local schools and colleges, to help inspire future generations to join the energy sector.

If you have a community project that our corporate volunteering programme could support, let us know by contacting [email protected].

Information and resources

We have a selection of information leaflets that cover what support our partners can offer around affordability and energy efficiency, as well as in depth information about different types of green home heating solutions.

The leaflets can be downloaded below, or if you would like a hard copy sent to you, please email [email protected]. They can also be requested in any format to ensure they are accessible.
