Knocked down telecommunications street furniture
We will develop a new process whereby telecommunications street furniture that is damaged in road traffic accidents can be reconnected more quickly.
During Ofgems consultation on the previous year's ICE, an issue was raised by telecommunications provider Openreach.
Openreach will typically require unmetered connections for new Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) installations. During the ICE consultation Openreach highlighted that FTTC cabinets that are damaged through road traffic accidents were not being reconnected quickly enough.
We acknowledged this feedback and have met with Openreach to discuss their requirements. As a result, we are making a commitment to work together to develop a new process that will enable us to reconnect damaged telecommunications street furniture in a more acceptable timeframe. Having successfully completed the trial we implemented a new reconnection process and are now considering how to roll it out to all telecommunication providers in our region who require it.
