UPDATE: 7:30pm, Sunday 26 January 2025
-
We have made good progress today repairing the damage caused by the storm with over 97% of customers’ power now back on.
-
We are continuing repairs work at over 150 different sites to get more customers back on tonight.
-
Around 3,000 customers in the Northumberland, County Durham and Tyne & Wear will be without power overnight – we expect to get power back on for those customers during Monday.
-
We are still on track to get the power back on for customers impacted by the storm in the North Yorkshire and Teesside areas tonight.
-
The live power cut map contains the most up to date information and we will continue to update our social media channels and contact customers directly signposting our welfare vans and hot food or warm hub facilities.
Steve McDonald, Director of Field Operations said, “We know some customers are going into their third night without power now, and our teams are working flat-out to get as many customers back on tonight as possible.”
“We are starting to see more high winds in our region this evening. We want to assure customers who have been impacted since Friday that our priority remains getting their power back on, and we will work to repair any damage caused from this weather once their power has been fixed.”
“Unfortunately, due to the amount of work needed, we know some customers are going to be without power overnight. But we’ve now got a good picture of the extent of the work needed and as our teams get clear in other regions, they will be moving further north to help finish the job. Provided we don’t experience any setbacks, we’re expecting to get everything finished tomorrow.”
We are regularly updating the power cut map on our website with live updates, so I encourage customers to keep checking. We’re also proactively contacting those customers who are still affected to give them the latest updates. We will do everything we can to support those customers, including working closely with our local resilience partners who have arranged for customers in Northumberland and Durham who are without power to use the local authority leisure centre facilities. We are doing the best we can to get the repairs done as soon as possible.”
