AS AT 8:00:
- Teams across Northern Powergrid have worked non-stop since Friday to get the power back to over 150,000 customers who were impacted as a result of Storm Éowyn.
-
This morning, we have around 2,400 customers still without power from the storm across Northumberland, County Durham and Tyne & Wear and we expect to get power back on by the end of today.
-
We have made good progress on the repair work and are continuing with the remaining 100 sites to get the last jobs completed today.
-
The live power cut map contains the most up to date information and we will continue to provide welfare and support to all customers who are still without power this morning, and thanks to our local resilience partners for their support in opening local leisure centre facilities for our customers.
Steve McDonald, Director of Field Operations said, “I want to thank our customers for their patience – and our teams for their commitment.”
“We have another busy day ahead as we work through the remaining damage on our network. We have moved more resources further North this morning to get the final repair work completed today. We did see some high winds through our region yesterday afternoon that have impacted our customers. We will get to these repairs as soon as we can.
“We know how hard it is to be without power, and I’m sorry that some of our customers have had to manage for three nights without it. We will not stop until everyone is back on. Our welfare teams will still be out in the communities most affected today and we’ll ensure there are hot food vans and additional support for those who need it most.
“I really want to thank customers – your support and patience goes a long way, particularly for our people who have to get the job done in very difficult circumstances.”
