- Our teams are now on site at the remaining repair jobs – they are working hard to complete the Storm Darragh restoration effort through the night.
- Power is back on to 99.6% of the customers affected by Storm Darragh.
- We are grateful to our teams for their relentless hard work and dedication and to our customers for their continued support and patience whilst we work as quickly as possible to get the power back on.
Following the strong winds across our regions throughout Saturday and Sunday, we have successfully restored power to 99.6%, almost all customers affected by Storm Darragh. Our teams are now on site at the final jobs that will restore supplies to the 400 customers that are currently without power.
We will be working throughout the night and expect that the last work to complete will be on the moors in North Yorkshire where the network has suffered multiple points of damage. Localised flooding, and extensive forestry damage has made carrying out the necessary work to repair the network and connect generators extremely difficult.
Rod Gardner, Northern Powergrid’s Major Incident Director said: “Storm Darragh was much more severe than anticipated and caused substantial damage to parts of our network. We’re almost there now and we won’t stop working until all customers are reconnected. We are grateful to our customers for their continued patience whilst we carry out the repairs safely.”
We are keeping our remaining customers updated and offering welfare support including access to hot meals, our customer support vehicles to charge devices and get hot drinks and information on local warm hubs in their community. We also offering those customers who have been without power for more than 24-hours a £150 contribution towards overnight accommodation and further financial support, where appropriate.
