Northern Powergrid is reconnecting supplies as strong winds continue to affect the region

- The strong winds forecasted in the Met Office’s weather warnings have been impacting Yorkshire and the North East throughout the weekend, causing some disruption to power supplies.
- Over 16,700 customers have experienced a power cut. Our teams were prepared for this and responded quickly.
- We have already managed to reconnect around 15,800 customers despite the challenging conditions restricting the work we can carry out.
- The strong wind will continue throughout the day. Our teams are ready to get the power back on as quickly as possible and support our customers.
Strong winds, as forecasted in the Met Office's weather warnings, impacted Yorkshire and the North East yesterday and throughout the night disrupting power supplies to over 16,700 customers. Our teams have made good progress restoring supplies despite the challenging conditions, successfully reconnecting 95% of our customers.
The windy conditions are expected to continue today. Our teams are already working to restore power to those affected during the night and this morning. We will continue to address any significant issues on our electricity network, ensuring that affected customers have their power restored as quickly as possible. We will keep them updated throughout.

We will do everything we can to get the power back on and support our customers whilst we work to repair any damage.
If you spot any fallen trees on our power lines/poles or damaged cables due to the strong winds, stay well clear and call 105 immediately.
